RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The City of Richmond entered the New Year with violence and bloodshed. Police are investigating everything from deadly shootings to a fatal domestic stabbing.

On Sunday, police responded to a fatal shooting on Midlothian Turnpike. A few hours later, another gunshot victim in the parking lot of an apartment complex who later died at the hospital. And on Friday, a man succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after being stabbed in a domestic incident late Wednesday.

We’ve since learned the identities of both fatal shooting victims, but there is still no word on any motives.

One man, Kenneth Williams with the Adult Alternative Program, is looking for some divine help to bring a stop to the violence.

“This movement … This effort is for the believers,” Williams told 8News reporter Jonathan Costen. “We have candlelight vigils, but it’s after the fact. We have Al Sharpton coming to town protesting, but it’s after the fact. The bible also says that without works, faith is dead. So we plan to do some works. We’re going to call on businesses to each one, reach one and teach one.”

Williams plans to hold a community meeting at Richmond Police headquarters on Thursday. He says it’s time to stop talking and protesting; it’s time to do something.
