HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Henrico mother accused of crashing into a West End home with her child in the car appeared in court Wednesday.

37-year-old Laurissa Jarvis pleaded guilty to DUI, assault on law enforcement and reckless driving. Four other charges against her were dropped.

Jarvis had her 7-year-old in the backseat of her car when police said she drove off the road and through two yards before striking the garage of a Henrico home.

After her arrest, officers said Jarvis fought violently as they struggled to get her into the hospital for a blood alcohol test. They added that she had to be restrained by several officers in order to obtain her blood. While police restrained Jarvis, she kicked two officers and bit another one on the finger.

Jarvis faces six months mandatory jail time, but could serve as much as a year and nine months. Sentencing was set for February 11 at 1:30 p.m.
