RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Cloudy skies with some spotty drizzle are around central Virginia this morning.
We will see mostly cloudy skies throughout the day and it will be seasonable for this time of year with highs in the middle to upper 40s. Our skies will remain mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the upper 30s.
A weather system will pass by to our west on Friday and that will help turn our winds to the southeast and then southwest pushing milder air back into central Virginia as highs climb into the lower 50s but mostly cloudy skies will persist throughout the day. We might have some early break of sunshine on Saturday before clouds increase and thicken up with highs in the upper 50s.
The clouds will give way to rain by Saturday night as a weather system moves in from the Tennessee valley. This system could bring us between a half inch to an inch of rain between Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
Any lingering showers will come to an end before noon on Sunday and we might even squeeze out some afternoon sunshine, if we can get lucky. Highs on Sunday will be very mild as we top out in the middle 60s.
Partly sunny skies and seasonable temperatures will be around for Monday and Tuesday with highs in the middle 40s. By late Tuesday evening a cold front, known as an Alberta Clipper, will come sliding through central Virginia. This will open the door to another shot of cold air from Canada as highs for Wednesday and Thursday will only top out around 40.
