RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Virginia native will embark on his third 100+ mile ruck in under 48 hours to raise money for the Navy SEAL Foundation.
Fellow patriots Alex Miller and Randy Sulcer will join Victor Wise, a Richmond resident and son of a retired First Sergeant and Operation Enduring Freedom veteran, for the event in its entirety.
Wise created “Freedom Ruck,” a physical challenge he hopes will help inspire others to give back to the military community. Donations will benefit The Navy SEAL Foundation.
At 7:30 a.m. Friday, Wise, Miller and Sulcer begun the more than 100 mile walk along Route 1 starting at the Virginia War Memorial. The group was equipped with flags and rucks. Their challenge is to complete the route in less than 48 hours, ending at Arlington National Cemetery.
This is Wise’s third Freedom Ruck, having completed his first challenge in 2014, and raising over $10,000 for the Navy SEAL Foundation in 2015.
“The goal of Freedom Ruck is to simply say thank you. We try to lead by example and inspire folks to stand behind these heroes and their families. Our hope is to rally the public to take action. Our servicemen and women deserve to know how much we appreciate what they do.” said Wise.
