WASHINGTON (AP) – A Delaware school student and two Washington-area residents are among First Lady Michelle Obama’s guests for the president’s State of the Union address Tuesday.

Twelve-year-old Braeden Mannering of Bear, Delaware, D.C. businessman Mark Davis and Army veteran Naveed Shah of Springfield, Virginia, will be sitting in Mrs. Obama’s visitor box.

After attending a White House event to encourage children to improve their communities, Mannering started a nonprofit to provide food to homeless and low-income individuals.

Davis, inspired by Obama’s focus on climate change, started a business that trains low-income individuals to install solar panels and prepares people for green-tech jobs.

Shah, who immigrated to the U.S. with his Pakistani parents and served in Iraq after enlisting in 2006, volunteers with groups helping veterans transition from military to civilian life.
