RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department announced Tuesday that an arrest has been made in connection to a homicide that occurred last week on the city’s south side.
Shortly before 1 a.m. on January 7, officers responded to the 6500 block of Midlothian Turnpike for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located 19-year-old Mark Jackson-Silver of the 1300 block of Jennie Scher Road suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Later that day, 25-year-old Alvin Ruffin, Jr. of the 1200 block of East Marshall Street was arrested on a charge of shooting in the commission of a felony. He was charged with voluntary manslaughter on Monday.
The case remains under investigation.
