RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Are you ready to solve the puzzle?
You may remember back in October when thousands of folks lined up to try out for Wheel of Fortune after the Wheelmobile made a stop in Richmond. On Wednesday, a lucky few were picked for their second rounds of auditions.
One by one, dozens took the stage to audition for the longest running game show, Wheel of Fortune. Producer Gary O’Brien says for this round, a little personality and a lot of energy go a long way.
“We’re looking for contestants who represent our viewers,” O’Brien says. “It’s nice and easy when you’re at home in your comfortable surroundings, but we’re trying to find contestants who can be smart and fun under pressure.”
Brandy Hunt hopes to make the cut after solving a puzzle in under five minutes.
“I acted like I was on the show for real, but that was my true genuine enthusiasm,” she said. “I love it.”
For contestants like Luther Scott, it’s more than an audition; it’s a way to keep a family tradition alive.
“My mom passed two years ago, and we watched Wheel of Fortune together a whole lot,” he said. “During the last couple of months before she passed, that’s all we did was watch Wheel of Fortune. We’d fall asleep watching, we’d just watch Wheel of Fortune. So, it’s a little late, but this is my little thing for her.”
Wednesday’s auditioners will find out in a few weeks whether or not they made the cut.
Don’t forget you can watch Wheel of Fortune weeknights at 7 p.m. only on WRIC-TV8.
