HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Charges have been filed against a 46-year-old man who last month was named a ‘person of interest’ in his grandmother’s murder.
When offers responded to the 3900 block of E. Chatham Drive on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 29, they found a female victim suffering from “obvious signs of trauma,” according to police. The victim, 81-year-old Bertha Bernice Pannell, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives determined the victim’s vehicle was missing and notified surrounding jurisdictions. Richmond police later located the vehicle on North Avenue and attempted to the stop the vehicle, but the driver fled. He was later apprehended after crashing on Staples Mill Road.
After being released from the hospital on January 6, Ricardo Green was indicted on one count of first-degree murder in the death of his grandmother, Pannell. He also faces charges of auto theft and eluding.
