Richmond police officer helps grandmother, granddaughter in need

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond police officer helped a grandmother and her granddaughter when they were stuck at a gas pump without money.

Police said it was a frigid night and the grandma and her granddaughter were looking for help. Though several people came by, no assistance was offered until First Precinct Officer Joachin Okonkwo stepped out of his cruiser.

Officer Okonkwo filled their gas tank and then bought the ladies a hot meal.

“He even pulled a ‘winter care package’ from his vehicle to give to the pair,” Richmond police said in a Facebook post. “Thrilled and grateful, the ladies were on their way.”
