RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — According to the Virginia State Police, crashes and disabled vehicles remain on the rise, including two traffic crashes resulting in life-threatening injuries in Augusta and Wythe counties. From just 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., state police responded to 136 traffic crashes statewide.
From midnight Friday through 3 p.m. Friday, Virginia State Police dispatch centers have fielded 1,150 calls for service, with 516 of those for traffic crashes and 395 for disabled vehicles. There have been no reported traffic fatalities at this time. The majority of the crashes have involved damage to vehicles only.
As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, Virginia Troopers are currently on scene of 96 crashes and 23 disabled vehicles statewide.
