RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The winter storm warning and the blizzard warning remain in effect over the area.
Snow will continue tonight with a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain in areas along and east of US-360. Around 1 a.m., we will have a lull in the snowfall rates in the much of the area. This will allow for temps to slowly rise overnight to near 30.
Saturday snow will return back into the area from NW to SE and start to re-accumulate in the area. Along with that, it will get very windy for us with 25-30 mph winds common over much of the area. Highs will warm up into the mid-30s, with some upper 30s in southside.
Snow ends Saturday night followed by clearing. Lows will be in the upper teens and lower 20s.
Sunday will be mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the mid-30s.
Early next week will be sunny and cool, but there is a chance of showers on Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures may be over forecasted on those days until we see the full effects of the snow on the ground on temperatures.
Snow totals so far:
- Nearly 4″ at Richmond International Airport as of 5:30 p.m.
- six inches of snow in Short Pump,
- Almost 7″ of snow in Brandermill
- Near 5″ over Downtown.
