RICHMOND, Va (WRIC) – Richmond International Airport (RIC) has reopened for flights. Ramp, taxiway, and roadway clearing operations continue. At best, RIC expects limited flight operations in the afternoon and evening hours on Sunday as only 37 flights remain on today’s schedule (cancellation rate exceeds 70%).
For Monday, 21 flights have posted as cancelled. Since the arrival of winter storm Jonas, 325 flights have cancelled.
Flyers are strongly encouraged to check your flight’s status – via airline websites or mobile apps – before leaving for the airport. In addition, passengers should have the confirmation and phone numbers to all airlines, hotels and rental car agencies they may be using in preparation for potential weather-related disruptions.
Also, the Transportation Security Administration has a downloadable app (called MyTSA) for mobile devices that tracks airport delays, offers travel tips and posts security checkpoint wait times.
For this storm, air carriers have widely issued change fee waivers to allow rescheduling to alternate dates. For fee waiver policies, please contact your air carrier:
