RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — St. Catherine’s School is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, and to commemorate that, the school has invited a series of speakers to visit. U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team defender Ali Krieger took the stage Thursday night in front of about 700 people. The World Cup champion and Olympic silver medalist told the crowd of mostly young women to be confident and take risks while following their dreams. Krieger grew up in Dumfries, Va. and graduated from Forest Park High School. She played at Penn State and joined the National Team in 2008. She scored the winning penalty kick to beat Brazil in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup semifinal and was on the field when Team USA defeated Japan to win the 2015 World Cup.
