Thomas Dale graduate CJ Reavis dismissed from Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Tech safety CJ Reavis has been dismissed from Virginia Tech as a result of his confidential student council hearing on Thursday, the Roanoke Times reported Friday.

Reavis’ enrollment was confirmed by University spokesman Mark Owczarski.

The Thomas Dale High School grad and would-be sophomore, was expected to be a major contributor in the defensive backfield for the Hokies this upcoming season.

The explanation for the decision to dismiss Reavis has not been released; It can only be made available with student permission or by a court order. Records from student council meetings are strictly confidential per University policy.

In the Roanoke Times report, which you can see here, Reavis’ attorney, Jimmy Turk, says Reavis is not facing any criminal charges and they will not pursue court action. He will however plan to appeal the decision.

Turk tells the Roanoke Times, “Without discussing the details, there is an appeal process that we are going through at this point. I expect that process to maybe exhaust itself over the next week to 10 days.”

Virginia Tech athletics have not made any comments regarding Reavis’ status with the team as of now.
