CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A five-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer has snarled traffic on Route 288 South in Chesterfield Friday evening.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. roughly a half mile north of the Hull Street (Rt. 360) exit.

According to Virginia State Police, traffic had stopped on Rt. 288 when a 2015 Peterbilt tractor-trailer swerved into the right shoulder. In its path were two vehicles that had also swerved into the shoulder.
A Honda Civic was rear-ended by the tractor-trailer and then rear-ended black Ford Explorer. The Explorer was also struck by the tractor-trailer and became lodged underneath trailer when the truck overturned.
The tractor trailer then sideswiped a Toyota 4Runner and also struck a Mercedes Benz in the rear.
The driver of the Ford Explorer sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Leonard Dean, Jr. of Florida, was charged with Reckless driving. The tractor-trailer was loaded with lament flooring.
