RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A plane has been moved from the tarmac at Richmond International Airport after the aircraft ran off the taxiway early Monday morning.

Air bags were brought to the taxiway to help move Southwest Flight number 4636 off the grass, which departed from Orlando and arrived this morning here in Richmond.

“After making a routine landing, the aircraft veered off of the taxiway and into the grass, while slowly transitioning to the gate,” officials with Southwest Airlines said in a statement released to 8News.

Passengers were aboard the plane when it went off the taxiway. No injuries were reported.

An 8News viewer sent us pictures of the plane as it sat on the tarmac. Passengers say the plane was going fast as they landed before eventually running off the taxiway.

“Everything started shaking and the pilot was on the intercom talking to us and hung up real quick,” said passenger Gage Yesbeck.

Southwest says that after a one-hour delay, the 131 customers and five crew member aboard were deplaned and transported to the terminal.

There were no delays as a result of the incident. Southwest sent in a replacement plane.
