RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be with us throughout the day, so it will be a good idea to take the umbrella with you.
It will be slightly cooler today with highs in the lower 80s due to the extra clouds and showers. Our skies will remain mostly cloudy tonight and it will be muggy with lows around 70.
Tuesday is setting up to be an interesting day with some clouds in the morning and a possible shower giving way to partly sunny skies. It will turn hot and humid with highs in the lower 90s. Then a cold front will swing through in the afternoon and there is a risk of severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Some of those thunderstorms will contain heavy downpours, gusty winds in excess of 60 mph and the potential for hail. The more sunshine we see during the late morning and early afternoon on Tuesday the greater the threat for severe weather during the 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. hours.
Wednesday will be another hot and humid day with partly sunny skies. Highs will top out around 90 and there is a threat for a few afternoon thunderstorms.
