Central Va. under heat advisory through Sunday night

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A heat advisory has been posted for the entire 8News viewing area until 8pm Sunday.

Heat index values will run from 103-107°. Dangerous heat!

Tonight we have a few isolated storms that will diminish after sunset, with mainly clear skies. Lows are in the mid 70s, with humidity even worse later this evening.

Tomorrow brings partly cloudy skies to start, but the sun will break out nicely in the afternoon. This will only heat things up quicker, with highs near 97 degrees. There’s a very small chance for an isolated storm tomorrow, but most will get away completely dry, but HOT.

Next week brings little relief from the heat, at least to start. Monday and Tuesday will be near triple digits (Heat Advisory likely extended), with afternoon storm chances both days.

A cold front passes Tuesday night and brings Sunny skies for Wednesday, but the bigger story is that it brings relief! Highs will top out in the upper 80s.

Thursday and Friday we’ll be near 90 with afternoon storm chances. Low 90s return next weekend.
