RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police are seeking the public’s help locating a man wanted in connection to a recent homicide in Hillside Court.
The shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on July 14 in the 1700 block of Southlawn Avenue. When police arrived, they found the body of 29-year-old Benjamin Alston of the 2400 block of Harwood Street lying on the sidewalk outside one of the apartment buildings. The incident is believed to have stemmed from an altercation.
Police are looking for 19-year-old Jermal L. Barksdale, of the 1500 block of Lone Street, who is wanted on two firearms charges in relation to the homicide.
Barksdale is described as a 5-foot-5, 130-140 pound black male. He is considered dangerous and should not be approached.
