PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (WRIC) — For majority of Richmond missionaries on this mission trip, it was like a home coming to Haiti. They’ve volunteered here in past years and now they are back to see old friends.
Haiti is a deeply religious country, and on day one, we weren’t the only American missionary group here.
On Monday, the work begins — We’ll be teaching vacation bible school to 200 kids. For the American volunteers, serving others on their vacation is a win-win.
“Coming from a social work background, you realize there are people who are in need and we are supposed to help. And really it makes me feel good to go to another country and help somebody out,” said Pearl White.
Out of the 11 volunteers from Richmond, there are the five rookies on the team.
