Reward offered for info leading to arrest of Jefferson Davis Monument vandal

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police have announced they are offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for vandalizing the Jefferson Davis Monument in Richmond on Thursday, June 25th.

The Virginia Flaggers are sponsoring the reward after vandals spray painted the words “BLACK LIVES MATTER” across the back of the monument.

Work to remove the desecration continued this week, over a month later, as the vandals used an oil based paint that could not be removed by conventional cleaning methods.

For more information on the reward, and/or the ongoing investigation, please contact Third Precinct Commander Captain Emmett Williams at (804)646-1412 or via email at Emmett.Williams@richmondgov.com.
