HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Three wives all at one time, that’s the accusation against one Henrico man whose behind bars charged with bigamy.That man is speaking out from behind bars, sitting down with 8 News Reporter Parker Slaybaugh.
Frank Ernest Blake, Jr. , 32, says he thought his marriages with his first 2 wife’s were over before he ever married wife number 3.
“I ain’t no cheater,” said Blake.
Blake, Jr. says he is being wrongfully accused.
“This is crazy man, this is a joke right here, this right here shouldn’t be happening man. I don’t see how it’s happening,” said Blake, Jr.
Blake Jr. says he can explain everything.
“I was married to the first girl and thought I was divorced. I mean when you get divorced with somebody you got the right to go marry somebody else, and I thought it was legal to do. I never thought number two was even, I mean I thought it was a voided marriage, I didn’t think it was a real marriage. It was only a marriage for like a week man, It was nothing. Then I met Jessica and I went and married Jessica because I love her,” said Blake, Jr.
Wife number three says she is his only wife.
“He doesn’t believe in having more than one wife, he is not a polygamist, this was an honest mistake and this man did not believe at all he was married to this woman,” said Jessica Blake.
She doesn’t understand how the system would even let a man who is married, marry again.
“How do you allow someone to issue a marriage license when you have their social security number you have everything, all of their information. If they were married to someone else why wouldn’t that pop up and say flag no you cant marry this person you are still married to this person,” said Jessica.
Blake is facing a $40,000 bond for these new charges, but is already behind bars for an unrelated charge. He is supposed to be released on Monday.
Wife number two called the 8Newsroom after our story aired. She says she disagrees with Frank’s side of things. She says she believed she was still in a marriage with Frank Blake and up until a few weeks ago had even helped with legal bills. We will certainly keep you updated on this story.
