PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Two suspects have been charged with arson after two fires broke out at a house within two months in Petersburg.
The two suspects are on the run, but authorities say they have spoken to both suspects on the phone and both said they were going to turn themselves in. However, there has still been no sighting of the pair.
The house fire occurred on July 14 in the 900 block of Wilcox St. Witnesses’ say they saw 37-year-old Mya Boyd, and her boyfriend, 49-year-old Charles Collins, going away from the scene just seconds before the fire broke out.
Eye witnesses’ remember watching the house go up in flames.
“Smoke was coming out of the back, then I said ‘is that smoke’ and tried to get a good look and then I looked again and saw the fire coming in the living room,” said Ruth Taylor.
A flammable liquid was detected throughout the house, but July 14th wasn’t the only time this house had been set ablaze.
“They got 2 charges each because the same thing happened May the 5th or 6th somewhere around that time,” said Taylor.
