RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A federal judge decided Thursday that Confederate flag license plates on vehicles in the Commonwealth would be recalled.
Judge Jackson Kiser officially entered his order granting Attorney General Mark Herring’s motion to dissolve an injunction forcing Virginia to put the Confederate battle flag on certain specialty license plates.
Because the injunction has been dissolved, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will begin recalling and replacing existing license plates with ones that comply with Virginia law.
Information on how the DMV would begin and execute the recall process was not immediately available.
