RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond is firmly in Redskins territory, and it’s the burgundy and gold, not the Houston Texans that bring training camp to RVA, but plenty of folks in the River City have come out this week to support J.J. Watt.
Watt is the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He says Houston fans are the greatest in the world, but he thanked Richmonders for coming out with signs with his name on them and buying his jersey in the Redskins’ Team Store.
Watt: “That’s the type of thing that makes you work so hard. That’s the type of thing that makes you want to represent yourself your team your family the right way. Because when you come out here on the road in Richmond, Virginia, a city I’ve never been to before and those people out there with signs and they put in the time to make a sign or buy a t-shirt it’s incredible, and I’m so fortunate. It makes my job the best job in the world.”
