RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — You’re almost certain to find some fishing at the James River, but some of those folks are leaving behind clumps of fishing line and it’s putting wildlife at risk.
Virginia Wildlife Management Control says they frequently respond to calls of animals stuck in fishing line. Sometimes, they make it there and are able to assist helpless animals… but sometimes the animal has already died when they arrive.
Now, the James River Advisory Council is recruiting folks to come out and help them clean up the banks of the James on September 12.
