DINWIDDIE, Va. (WRIC) — Crews are searching for an escaped mental patient in Dinwiddie County.
According to police, Ray Alec Lopez was being transported from Pulaski to a Petersburg medical facility when he was able to escape from deputies transporting him.
Lopez is a senior at Virginia Military Institute.
Police say Lopez is 6 ft. tall, and weighs 180 lbs. He’s wearing a white Philadelphia Phillies shirt, shorts, and his hands are cuffed in the front.
Police have sent out reverse 911 calls to neighbors in the area.
There are no pending criminal charges against the patient.
