RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Joe Morrissey says he’s taking a break from campaigning due to his health.
Morrissey released a statement on Friday that reads in full:
Mr. Morrissey has temporarily suspended all campaign activities while he seeks medical care for a paralyzed diaphragm at the JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, New Jersey. More information will be provided as it becomes available.”
Back in May, Morrissey announced that he was the father of a baby boy with his former secretary, 19-year-old Myrna Pride.
Morrissey previously served a three-month jail sentence as part of the work-release program after he was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Morrissey was accused of having sex with his secretary, Pride, when she was underage. Pride also spoke at the May press conference. There, she denied that the two were ever sexually involved when she was a minor.
