HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) — Police have made an arrest after a homicide in Henrico on Thursday.
Authorities say they responded to a medical emergency in the 4400 block of Carpenter Road around 11:45 p.m. Thursday. Once on scene, emergency crews found an unresponsive adult male.
The victim, who was identified as 58-year-old Gene Purnell, died at the scene.
After further investigation, 56-year-old Ronnie Marlon Barner was arrested and charged with first degree murder. An arrest warrant for Barber says the murder was premeditated.
Police say that it appears the victim was beaten to death. There was no weapon involved. There was some sort of altercation between the two, according to authorities.
