CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Some Chesterfield County residents are furious over the paving job in their neighborhoods.  Those residents live in the Walnut Grove and Clarendon subdivisions.

On some of the streets it is very visible where the crews did not pave; residents told 8News large parts were not paved because there were cars parked in the streets. However, residents also 8News that many of them received very little, or no notice at all that the roads were going to be paved.

VDOT’s website indicates that residents should be given at least a 30-day notice and that signs should be posted in neighborhoods around three days before the paving work is done.

Regardless, residents like Mary Fulcher said the paving work was not quality work.

“They finished maybe last week and I mean it’s mediocre, there was paving all up on the grass and parts of people’s driveway, and then it just you know all the stuff went up on your cars, I don’t think it looks very good,” said Fulcher.

In meantime, VDOT told 8News it has reached out to the contractor who did the work in the two subdivisions to make sure residents are given enough notice when neighborhood streets are going to be paved.

The paving season typically runs from April through October and weather plays a huge factor on when roads can be paved.
