HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Hopewell Police say tips from the public led to the quick arrest of a bank robbery suspect on Tuesday.
Police say 43-year-old James Robert Moore of Hopewell entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 425 S. 15th Avenue and demanded money from the teller. Moore did not display a weapon, but told the teller he would shoot her.
Before the teller handed over any cash, Moore ran out of the bank, according to police. No employees or customers were injured during the attempted robbery.
After identifying the suspect as Moore, he was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted bank robbery. He is being held at Riverside Regional Jail.
Captain Greg Taylor with Hopewell Police stated that, “an overwhelming response from citizens and our ongoing partnership with the community led to the quick arrest.”
