RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — For the second time in as many days, police were shot at overnight in Richmond.

A Chesterfield Police officer is okay after he was shot at just before midnight near the Rainbow Motel on Jefferson Davis Highway. The officer noticed what he thought was a robbery going on, so he started following the suspects on to Dale Avenue. Then, one of the suspects drew what appeared to be a handgun and fired a shot. The bullet did not hit the vehicle and the officer was not injured.

The suspects fled on foot and were last seen in the 2400 block of Lancelot Avenue.

Police are still searching for the suspects, who are described as black males wearing dark-colored clothing. Police say the suspect who fired the shot was further described as being between 5-foot-10 to 6-foot tall and weighing roughly 160-180 pounds.

Not far from there, 8News told you about a somewhat similar incident that happened Tuesday night. Two cars were actually hit by bullets on I-95 near the Bells Road exit. One of the victims was a State Trooper.

Nobody was hurt.

Police are still investigating both incidents.
