RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The coastal weather system is taking shape this morning and it will have a significant impact on Central Virginia from Friday through the weekend.
We will start the day off with a little sunshine but clouds will begin to increase from southern and southeastern Virginia back to the north and west throughout the day. By the end of the day we will be cloudy to mostly cloudy and it will be cool with highs in the middle 70s. Clouds will thicken tonight and a few showers could develop between midnight and 4 a.m. across central Virginia.
Friday will be cloudy with off and on rain showers throughout the day. It will be a cool day with highs in the lower 70s.
Steadier rain will develop later Friday evening and Friday night and continue right through Saturday. During this time frame possibly 1”-3” of rain will fall. More rain will continue Saturday night and continue into early Sunday. Another inch of rain is possible from Saturday night into Sunday.
The steadiest of the rain will lift north on Sunday allowing for just off and on showers and clouds throughout the day. It will still remain cool with highs around 70.
By Monday that coastal system will be lifting out and we will try to return to partly sunny skies with highs in the middle 70s.
Tuesday will be a decent day with highs in the middle to upper 70s under partly sunny skies.
Another weather system will make a run at us for Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning, putting showers back in the forecast.
