RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two Richmond schools were briefly locked down due to a nearby shooting Wednesday afternoon.
According to Richmond Police, one man was shot at the intersection of Powhatan and Winder streets shortly before 3 p.m. and transported to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Richmond Public Schools spokesperson Cletisha Lovelace told 8News that Amelia Street School and Maymont Preschool Development Center were both on lockdown for approximately 15 minutes. The lockdown ended at roughly 2:15 p.m.
