Teen accused of threatening to kill president claims interests in serial killers, making bombs

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) Jared Brown, 18, remains in jail after allegedly threatening to kill U.S. President Barack Obama early last month.

Lockport Police say Brown called them on September 6, saying that he would kill the President.

Brown was arrested and committed to the Niagara County Jail.

Five days later, Brown was taken to an interview room and questioned by Vincent Merlino, a special agent with the U.S. Secret Service.

When asked what he would do if President Obama walked into the interview room, Brown replied, “I would shoot that n—–“. Agent Roberta Kane says Brown expressed no remorse or justification for the alleged threats.

Brown claimed to have thoughts of killing the President and says he watched shows on serial killers and assassins, according to Merlino.

Brown told Merlino that he has researched bomb making and how to kill people.

Along with these claims, Brown also told Merlino that he “bought a gun on the street, fired it at people on two separate occasions, and has disposed of the gun”, according to a court affidavit.

Brown could serve up to five years in jail if convicted.
