AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office charged an Amelia man with possession of child pornography.
51-year-old David James Fisher was arrested on Tuesday. After he was apprehended, Fisher was served an additional warrant out of Amelia for soliciting a person under the age of 18 to be subject of child pornography.
Fisher is being held without bond at the Piedmont Regional Jail. He’s scheduled to be arraigned on November 2 in the Amelia County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Fisher, a teacher at an Amelia County school, has been removed from his position pending the investigation. Amelia County Schools Superintendent has issued the following statement:
“The employee involved in this situation was immediately removed from the school pending further investigation. We appreciate the quick and appropriate response by the Amelia County Sheriff’s Department and we are cooperating with them fully in their investigation. We cannot comment further at this time because it involves an open investigation and a personnel matter but we want to ensure parents, staff, and the community that the Amelia County Public School system is committed to the safety of our students. We have and will continue to take the steps necessary to ensure a safe school environment.”
