CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police have arrested a man in relation to the abduction and robbery of an Uber driver over the weekend.
No one was injured during the incident.
Police said the driver, an adult female, picked up the man at the Walmart at 900 Walmart Way at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday. During the trip, the man asked the driver to stop at the Union Bank branch at 13700 Midlothian Turnpike. Upon arrival at the bank, the man displayed a firearm and forced the driver into the vehicle’s rear compartment. The suspect then drove the vehicle to multiple locations in Chesterfield, and at one point used the victim’s debit card at an ATM. The suspect then drove the victim to Rockwood Park and fled. The victim then drove to another location and called police.
Through their investigation, and with the help of Crime Solvers tips, detectives identified the suspect as Kefha S. Nyaanga, 21, of the 9300 block of Alcove Grove Road in Chesterfield. Nyaanga, who was arrested Monday on unrelated charges, was located at the Chesterfield County Jail.
On Thursday, Oct. 29, detectives obtained and served warrants for Nyaanga for abduction, carjacking, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, credit card theft and credit card fraud in relation to the incident. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond.
