I-95N in Chesterfield reopens after emergency pothole repairs

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — All lanes of Interstate 95 north in Chesterfield County have reopened after emergency pothole repairs.

The pothole was caused by a collapsed storm sewer pipe under the pavement. The pipe separated from its joint, according to VDOT, which caused the pavement depression.

The repairs also closed all lanes of I-95 north shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, which created a near 10-mile backup.

A few-mile backup quickly turned northbound lanes of interstate 95 into a parking lot stretching ten miles as commuters grew more anxious by the minute.

“I’m just trying to get off the exit,” one frustrated driver told 8News. “As soon as I get off the exit I’ll be fine, you know? I’m just trying to get where I’m trying to be.”
