HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Three people were displaced from their home Tuesday night after a house fire.
Fire crews responded to the 4900 block of Wythe Avenue off of Monument Avenue in Henrico County’s north side for a house fire at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday. First arriving units were on scene in six minutes and reported smoke coming from the two story house. Inside, crews found a small fire in the second story bedroom. A quick knockdown was made on the fire and the situation was marked under control shortly after.
The family of three was downstairs at the time of the fire and was alerted to it by a working smoke alarm. They were all able to exit the home and call the fire department. There were no injuries reported due to the fire.
The cause of the fire has been determined to have been accidental in nature and caused by a burning candle. The burning candle dripped down and caught a nearby basket of clothes on fire.
The family of one adult and two children were displaced from their home. The American Red Cross is assisting.
