RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas in Richmond.
And with the Christmas season comes one of the cities favorite events: Grand Illumination.
For the third year in a row, 8News was on the move broadcasting live from downtown Richmond where each year thousands fill the streets to watch the James Center’s tree and reindeer light up.
Richmond’s School of Performing Arts kicked things off Friday night with caroling from the steps of the James Center. VCU’s pep band, ‘The Pepas,’ took over until it was time for the main event when Santa, 8News Meteorologist Katie Dupree, who served as this year’s Snow Queen, and 8News Anchor Juan Conde counted down to the tree lighting.
