CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — Highland Springs captured its first state football title since 1961 after defeating Stone Bridge 27-7 in Saturday’s Group 5A final in Charlottesville.
The game was played at the University of Virginia’s Scott Stadium.
The Springers took the lead early in the first quarter on a 65-yard touchdown run by D.J. Anderson that was set up by Greg Dortch’s interception during the game’s opening series. Highland Springs never looked back from there.
