RICHMOND, Va. (WCMH) –The website Rover.com has released the top dog names for 2015 and Max and Bella have topped the list.
According to the list released by Rover.com, in addition to Max, Charlie, Buddy, and Cooper all made the list for top male dog names. Bella was followed by Lucy, Daisy, and Molly for the females.

- With dog owners increasingly calling themselves “pet parents,” it’s no surprise we’re naming our pets like our children. There’s been nearly a 30 percent increase in dogs with human names from 2013 to 2015 – with nearly HALF of names in 2015 being human.
- 10 percent of all dog names were inspired by pop culture (Hunger Games names up 19 percent, Harry Potter names up 10 percent, and Star Wars names up 5 percent)
- After human names, food and drink comes in as the third most popular dog name category. 6 percent of names fall into this category with names like Ginger, Pepper, Peanut, Guinness, Brandy, and Whiskey.
- 1 in 20 pet parents have social media accounts for their pets.
