RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — In two month’s time, the UCI Road World Championships will take over the river city and we now know where the final starting line of the week will be!

The University of Richmond is host the start of the Men’s Elite Road Race, which is considered as the main event of the championships.

The course starts on the UR campus and then heads through Carytown before it jumps to Monument Avenue to end up downtown.

One of the important features: Cyclists will have to overcome the hill from Boatwright Drive on to Three Chopt Road.

“Guys attack from the very beginning of a race, and with a hill,” explained Lee Kallman, UCI 2015. “It’s not a mountain but it’s a nice kick right there at the beginning and could make for some very interesting attack, very early in the race.”
