RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — As many of us prepare for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, there are some new concerns about terror threats after a weekend of attacks in France, Kuwait and Tunisia.

U.S. officials are concerned about the possibility of an ISIS-inspired attack here at home. This weekend, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security sent a bulletin to 18,000 law enforcement agencies across the country, warning them of a potential threat just days before the holiday weekend.

The warning also comes just days after several brutal attacks overseas.

On Friday, a deliveryman beheaded his boss before crashing a van into an American-owned chemical plant in France, which sparked an explosion. Just hours later in Kuwait, a suicide bomber attacked a mosque, killing 27 people and injuring hundreds. In Tunisia, a mass shooting at a tourist beach resort left 39 dead.

The Islamic State group has already claimed responsibility for the last two attacks.

To make things more concerning, the terror group launched a social media campaign, targeting thousands here in the U.S.

“ISIL has spent about a year investing in trying to reach troubled minds in the United States through social media, to either recruit them to come to their so-called caliphate to fight, or to kill where they stand,” FBI Director James Comey said.

The FBI is continuing its push to put suspected ISIS radicals behind bars. They’ve made seven arrests in just two weeks.
