RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Rain showers are over the region this morning and they will last until 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., then we will see cloudy skies with a passing shower or two throughout the afternoon.
As this morning rain departs our temperatures will soar to the upper 60s and lower 70s in many areas. We will remain mostly cloudy this evening and tonight with lows the in the upper 50s.
Another weather system will come up from the south on Wednesday and this will bring us another round of rain by mid to late morning across central Virginia and it will be cooler with highs around 60. The rain will last, off and on, into very early Thursday morning. Clouds and any lingering showers during Thursday morning will give way to partly sunny skies by the afternoon and it will be cooler with highs in the middle 50s.
Our skies will be clear as we ring in the New Year, with temperatures in the middle 40s around midnight and overnight lows in the middle to upper 30s. Partly sunny skies will be around for the first day of 2016 and it will be seasonable with highs in the lower 50s.
More sunshine is expected for Saturday, Sunday and Monday with highs around 50.
