RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — For many of us, when we think New Year’s Eve, images of champagne toasts and kissing our sweethearts as the clock strikes midnight come to mind, but what about the kids?
For the last five years the Science Museum of Virgina has hosted a ‘Noon’ Year’s Eve celebration. The celebration is geared around the children and allows them to bring in the New Year with a ball drop of their own.
Chrissy Caldwell, with the Science Museum says, “We actually drop 2016 bouncy balls to celebrate the new year. So instead of counting down to midnight, we actually count down to noon.”
It was a sure fire crowd pleaser that didn’t disappoint.
“It was pretty cool and awesome.”, said Michael Banzelle.
Patrice Jones and her family are just in town for the weekend. She brought her kids to the museum to get in on all the fun and says, “I think it’s great because when we go to times square and we see all the things and usually our kids are sleeping or they’re home and they don’t get to see the same things as we do when we’re grown-ups.”
