LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) – Lynchburg police say a security guard shot and critically wounded a patient at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Lt. Malcolm Booker says the shooting occurred about 4 a.m. Monday. He says the shots were fired by a Centra security officer during a “physical altercation with an adult male patient.”
Media outlets report that the security guard sustained minor injuries.
Booker said no other information, including the names of the patient and the security guard, would be released Monday.
