RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond city leaders are coming together Friday to take a closer look at crime in the area throughout 2015.
Mayor Dwight C. Jones and Police Chief Alfred Durham are planning to discuss crime in the city and public-safety efforts by the Richmond Police Department. They plan to present historical data as well as crime statistics for 2015. They also plan to talk about several initiatives designed to curb gun violence in the city.
There were 41 murders in 2015 in Richmond — the same as in 2014. There have also been at least five homicides since the start of 2016. Officials say they plan on addressing those as well.
