Sleds are completely sold out at Pleasants Hardware on Broad Street, so they are improvising. They’ve got trash can tops for those looking to have some fun in this snow storm.

Sleds aren’t the only items flying off the shelves. Weather stripping, ice melt and ice scrapers are also in short supply.

“We had three four racks earlier this morning, so that’s what left,” said Aaron Spencer, the Assistant Store Manager at Pleasants.

Snow shovels are also out, leaving some people desperate for something to help dig them out. So, they are turning to garden shovels.

The mad dash to the supermarket is also well underway. The lines were so long this afternoon to checkout at the Martins on Charter Colony Parkway in Chesterfield, shopper Inge Strack told 8News, “You can hardly get through the aisles.”

The hot items? Milk, yogurt and batteries. In serious short supply was bread, as only a few lonely loafs are left at the store today.

“The boys like sandwiches, so bread as usual, milk ham, cheese, some turkey bacon and I am going to make some chili,” says shopper Bruce Eckberg.

Pleasants Hardware hopes to get another shipment of sleds and ice melt inby noon Friday.
