RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police are already responding to crashes and disabled vehicles throughout the state.
As of 11 a.m., crashes are at a minimum and no fatalities have been reported. However, disabled vehicle calls are increasing, police say. Police say there are drivers attempting to go out in these adverse and treacherous road conditions.
From 12:00 a.m. Friday through 11:00 a.m. Friday, Virginia State Police have responded to 68 crashes statewide and 174 disabled vehicles.
In the Richmond division, which includes the metro Richmond area, the Northern Neck and the Tri-Cities, there have been five traffic crashes and 12 disabled vehicles.
In the Culpeper division (Fredericksburg, Culpeper, Warrenton, Harrisonburg and Winchester), four crashes have been reported along with 14 disabled vehicles.
The Appomattox division (Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Staunton, Lynchburg, South Boston and South Hill) has seen 10 accidents and six disabled vehicles.
Police say the Wytheville division (Wytheville, Dublin, Galax, Bristol, Vansant and Wise) has reported 17 crashes and 74 disabled vehicles.
At 9:07 a.m., Virginia State Police responded to a jackknifed tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 at the 26 mile marker on the New River Bridge in Wythe County. The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The cause of that crash remains under investigation.

Traffic Crashes: 6
Disabled Vehicles: 30
State Police are still advising Virginians not to drive if at all possible. Stay home and stay safe.
